of The Florida Railroad Company.
Q. Does this current incorporation have any legal connection to or
obligation from the original Florida Railroad Company?
A. No, we do not.
Q. Does the current Florida Railroad Company have employment, financial
or other "official" records from the original Florida Railroad Company?
A. No, we do not.
Q. Is the current Florida Railroad Company an actual Florida Corporation?
A. Yes. The Florida Railroad Company Incorporated is a legally incorporated,
for-profit corporation, established February 20th 2004, under the laws
of the State Of Florida.
Q. Is the current Florida Railroad Company seeking artifacts and
memoribilia pertaining to the original Florida Railroad Company?
A. Yes. We are actively seeking such material, as well as material,
especially pictures, that are related to other North Florida railroad,
logging, sawmill and phospate mining operations.
Q. Is the current Florida Railroad Company in a position to pay for
such materials?
A. No. At this time we are not able to offer to pay for memoribilia
items.
Q. Is the current Florida Railroad Company offering any other type
of compensation or recognition for donated materials?
A. Yes. We are
already receiving memoribilia, and are giving credit for the family
and individuals who have seen fit to contribute in the name of historic
preservation and education. The individuals are listed on our Supporters,
Contributors and Benefactors page. These supporters will be listed and
greatfully appreciated for so long as this company can endure!
Q. Will the current Florida Railroad Company persue the right use
issue for historic work, references or publication?
A. No. The Florida Railroad Company Incorporated will not pursue the
unpermitted use of the name in general articles describing any past
history or references to this railroad and its part in the formation
of Florida's history, or other such reference usage. Our reason for
incorporating is twofold. First to provide a company and mechanism to
promote the history and preservation of information and artifacts of
Florida associated with railroads, and in particular, the Florida Railroad
Company. Second to earn some profit from the endeavor in order to continue
the effort. The rights use is primarily associated with the development,
manufacture and sale of new items.
Q. Does the current Florida Railroad Company claim US Trademark rights
also regarding the name of The Florida Railroad Company?
A. Yes. Documents have been filed with the United States Patent and
Trademark Office to secure the "Used in Commerce" Federal Trademark
registration of this company's name and corporate logo symbol. No use
of the name or logo is permitted, especially for commercial purposes,
without the express written permission of The Florida Railroad Company
Incorporated.
Q. Will the current Florida Railroad Company accept monetary donations
from individuals, groups or companies interested in helping to support
the historic preservation and education objectives?
A. Yes, the company will gladly accept any such donations. Contributors
will be permanently listed with credit and appreciation given. Note
that contributions ARE NOT tax deductible. They are accounted for as
income by the company.
Q. Does the current Florida Railroad Company claim or have exclusive
right to the use of the name The Florida Railroad Company?
A. Yes. The Florida Railroad Company Incorporated reserves the exclusive
right to use of the name The Florida Railroad Company Incorporated,
and its logo symbols. The Florida Railroad Company Incorporated will
require permitted use and a reasonable license agreement for use of
the name and or logo for any and all "new" use for commercial or other
productions. These uses include, but are not limited to, items such
as shirts, jackets, hats, pins, cups, flags, artwork and graphics prints,
banners, jewelery, coins and medallions, brochures and web pages. The
original corporate name was last used in Florida by the Seaboard Airline
Railway Co. in 1902 and had been available for use by anyone, until
the incorporation by this company in 2003.

Q. Does the current Florida Railroad Company have any records of employment or financial records from the original Florida Railroad Company or successor lines?
A. No. Most, if not all, of those records were lost in a huge fire, when the headquarters building of the Florida Central & Peninsular Railroad Company burned to the ground either in the very late 1800's, or early 1900. The FC&P was the last of the successor lines of the original Florida Railroad Company before the Seaboard Airline Railway assumed that company in 1902.
Q. Does the current Florida Railroad Company have any other records of the original Florida Railroad Company or successor lines?
